After several years, Zipp is releasing new models of its road wheelsets, tyres, and hubs. What can you expect from Zipp's new products, and what can you look forward to?

Zipp 353 NSW Tubeless Disc Brake

Speed of Light

Zipp’s 353 NSW is the first SRAM AXS connected wheel, offering in-wheel tire pressure monitoring on our most advanced and lightest rim design. Zipp’s 353 NSW Tubeless Disc brake is the pinnacle wheelset for today’s endurance rider and road racer.

Zipp’s most advanced wheelset in every performance area, the 353 NSW is also Zipp’s first SRAM AXS-connected wheelset. Designed for racers, it’s a lightweight climber’s wheel that comes with ceramic bearings and Zipp’s most advanced rim technology for impressive durability and aero performance. The 353 NSW rim seamlessly integrates the Zipp AXS Wheel Sensor for accurate on-bike tire-pressure monitoring. It allows you to monitor and analyze tire pressure in real-time without an external device mounted to the valve stem. Fine-tuning tire pressure helps riders optimize speed and performance in an ever-changing riding environment. Before you ride, check your pressure immediately; a green light means it's good to go. During the ride, monitor pressure to dial in your ideal setting and detect issues early.

Strong just got stronger for Zipp’s lightest wheelset. A revised carbon layup and design infused the already strong 353 NSW with a more than 16 percent higher rim impact strength. With its undulating 35/40mm deep rim shape, the 353 NSW provides speed on the valley road, the mountain climb, and the descent with excellent rolling resistance, crosswind stability, and feather-light weight. The 353 NSW features the premium ZR1 SL hubset with ceramic bearings and 66 points of smooth rolling engagement. The hubset is also 30 g lighter than the predecessor hub in NSW wheels. The 353 NSW is optimized for 30mm tires, with great options from Goodyear Fitment Series tires made exclusively for Zipp. The 353 NSW is not approved for gravel riding.

Zipp 303 SW Tubeless Disc Brake

Modern Classic

Zipp 303 SW offers performance on all roads with SRAM AXS-connected in-wheel tire pressure monitoring. Zipp’s 303 SW Tubeless Disc-brake wheelset offers superior speed on all roads, no matter the surface. Steeped in Zipp’s legacy of innovation, the 303 SW is a modern classic wheelset, fully capable of road, gravel, cobbles, and cyclocross riding.

The 303 SW rim internally integrates the Zipp AXS Wheel Sensor for accurate on-bike tire-pressure monitoring. It allows you to monitor and analyze tire pressure in real-time without an external device mounted to the valve stem. Fine-tuning tire pressure helps riders optimize speed and performance in an ever-changing riding environment. Before you ride, check your pressure immediately; green light means good to go. During the ride, monitor pressure to dial in your ideal setting and detect issues early. The 303 SW’s 40mm deep rim design takes design cues from the gravel-specific 303 XPLR to utilize a wide rim design for high aero efficiency and low rolling resistance on a wide tire platform designed for modern riding at lower tire pressures. The rim’s profile provides low drag and an improved transition between rim and tire, boosting aerodynamic efficiency with wider tires.

The wide-rim stance also features less tire deflection for reduced rolling resistance. Combining the wider tire, increased tire volume, and lower tire pressure helps reduce rider fatigue by smoothing out the ride over imperfect pavement and road conditions—the tire and wheel system absorbs the shaking, not the rider. A revised carbon layup and design also infused the already bombproof 303 SW with an almost 10 percent improvement in impact strength at a light weight. The 303 SW is optimized for tires 30 to 35mm in width. The 303 SW rims feature a refined shape that helps shield the tire in an impact that would otherwise cause a pinch flat. At the center of this is the ZR1 hubset, which now has stainless steel bearings for improved durability and smoother performance.

  • Fully capable wheelset for modern road and multi-surface riders
  • First integrated, connected SRAM AXS wheel with Zipp AXS Wheel Sensor; ability to use sensor with compatible tube

Zipp 454 NSW TUBELESS DISC BRAKE

Zipp’s 454 NSW Tubeless Disc-brake is the ultimate road racing wheelset. This wheel delivers everything the performance cyclist demands. It’s aerodynamically efficient and stable in all wind conditions. Moreover, a wider rim is designed for tubeless tires at lower pressure for reduced rolling resistance and vibration damping. You’ll lose as little energy as possible out on the road. For the best combination of aerodynamics and rolling resistance gain, a 28mm tire is recommended on this wheel. Its undulating 58mm Sawtooth rim shape with Hyperfoils is our most aerodynamic and stable wheel. The 454 NSW features Zipp’s Total System Efficiency (TSE), our approach at combating the biggest enemies of speed: wind resistance, gravity, rolling resistance, and vibration losses.

Zipp’s use of hookless (straight side) rims in the 454 NSW is integral to Making You Faster. With hookless, the transition between the tire and the rim is more seamless and aero. Zipp’s hookless rims have more efficient resin distribution, which means lighter, stronger wheels. The 454 NSW features the race-ready ZR1 SL hubs with ceramic bearings and 66 points of engagement. The hubset is also 30 g lighter than the predecessor hub in NSW wheels.

FEATURES

  • Weighs 30 g less than the previous model

Zipp 858 NSW TUBELESS DISC BRAKE

Zipp’s ultimate aero weapon is faster than ever, thanks to our proprietary Total System Efficiency technology. With TSE, the 858 NSW Carbon Tubeless Disc-brake wheelset features a tubeless and hookless rim profile for seamless tire interface and a huge drop in weight. The 858 gives you the benefits of our deep rims at a weight typically associated with rims that are 20mm shallower. The wheel’s internal width is 23mm, ideal for running wider tires with lower pressures for decreased rolling resistance. That’s how TSE technology helps you conquer the four barriers to speed: Wind Resistance, Gravity, Rolling Resistance, and Vibration Losses.

The 858 NSW’s undulating 82 mm - 85 mm deep rim shape, our patented Sawtooth profile, is our highest performing design for aero efficiency and crosswind stability. The result is the pure speed, especially for triathletes, time trial specialists, and any other speed freak. What’s more, while this wheelset is optimized for tubeless tires, you still have the option to run tubeless ready tires with tubes. The 858 NSW is fastest with a 28mm tire. In triathlon, running wider tubeless tires at lower pressure makes you faster while also smoothing out the ride so your body is fresher for the run. Disc brakes also offer more reliable speed modulation and braking power in all weather conditions. The 858 NSW features the premium ZR1 SL hubset with ceramic bearings and 66 points of engagement.

New Zipp HUB ZR1 SL hubs

Zipp’s ZR1 SL is a race-ready lightweight hubset built for performance and durability. Modeled after its predecessor, the ZR1 hub, the SL version features a lighter hub shell and bearing system. This hubset is purpose-built for our top-level NSW wheels and is now available separately. The ZR1 SL comes with carbon steel bearings with an aftermarket option for ceramic bearings for a lighter weight. The hub’s design creates a quick engagement feel, with 66 points of engagement. The six pawls are offset to work in two groups of three pawls. At any time, there are always three pawls engaging.

That means the power from your legs quickly transfers to your wheels. The driver body’s design keeps the pawls in place for disassembly to make service convenient. Zipp hubs utilize J-bend spokes, the most popular type of spokes today. J-bend spokes are widely available and easier to replace. ZR1 hubs are approved for use with light-assist electric bikes for road or gravel if the motor’s torque does not exceed 60Nm.
