Troy Lee Designs trail and enduro helmets

30.05.2024

A helmet should be part of every cyclist's kit. It doesn't matter if you ride every day or get on your bike once a month. The key is to choose the right helmet so that you can wear it as comfortably as possible. In this article, we will present the range of helmets from the American manufacturer Troy Lee Designs.

The history of this American brand dates back to the 1980s, when Troy Lee started airbrushing for his friends. The next step was the complex design of helmets, which he has been doing since 1986. His first product was a visor for motocross helmets.

Fast forward to 1995, when the first bike helmet, called the Daytona, was created and worn by the legendary Shaun Palmer. From there, it was just a step to more products under the Troy Lee Designs brand, which in 2015 was complemented by the first "small" helmet called the A1, whose legacy is carried on by the helmets we'll discuss in this article.

Troy Lee Designs A3

The creators themselves say it is so comfortable that you won't want to take it off your head. The TLD A3 is the top line in the "small" enduro helmet category. With the best downhill, endurance and freeride riders in the world wearing it, you can be sure that it meets the highest standards of protection and comfort at the same time.

The A3 features head protection against rotational forces called MIPS, two-component EPS/EPP foam using two different material densities, and 16 ventilation holes. This makes it supremely comfortable and ventilated, and we can sign off on the fact that you won't know you have it on your head.

It's available in 12 colours and for SRAM fans, there's a variant in this design too!

  • MIPS® B-Series head protection against rotational forces
  • Two-component EPS/EPP foam for maximum protection using two different material densities

Troy Lee Designs Flowline SE

A lighter version of the Flowline SE enduro helmet is for those who like to ride trails or are active cyclists but don't want to carry the more robust A3 enduro helmet.

The Flowline SE features MIPS ® technology and sets the bar for safety while pointing toward a modern yet minimalist design. The helmet has 14 air vents, antibacterial padding or Fidlock ® magnetic closures. The Flowline SE has earned a five-star safety rating from Virginia Tech.

That's why Virginia Tech earned the Flowline helmet a five-star safety rating.
