14.07.2025

Do you ride a Cannondale Moterra Carbon and feel like your Bosch CX motor could use a little more power? Now’s the perfect time! Bosch has launched an update that unlocks up to 750 W and 100 Nm from your motor. No cables, no service visits – just a few taps in the app, and your bike delivers performance previously reserved for top-tier models. Want to know how and why it's worth it? Keep reading.

Software Update Bosch Performance Line CX: Free Turbo Boost

Starting July 2025, owners of e-bikes equipped with the 5th generation Bosch Performance Line CX motor (BDU384Y) can download a free performance update via the Bosch eBike Flow app and adjust:

  • Maximum power up to 750 W (instead of the default 600 W)

  • Torque up to 100 Nm (previously 85 Nm)

  • Maximum support level up to 400% (instead of 340%)

The update is delivered over the air, conveniently via your phone. A slider in the app allows users to fine-tune the motor output to suit their needs.

Advantages

  • Noticeable performance boost in more demanding terrain

  • Full control over performance settings

  • No workshop visits or hidden fees

Considerations

  • Increased wear on the chain, drivetrain, and motor

  • Higher battery consumption = shorter range

  • If full power isn’t necessary, consider using lower settings

Bosch Performance Line CX R: The Peak of eMTB Performance

Bosch introduces a new version of the motor – CX R (BDU386Y) – the most powerful eMTB motor in their lineup:

  • 100 Nm torque

  • 750 W peak power

  • 400% rider support

  • Weighs only approximately. 2.7 kg, thanks to magnesium casing, titanium axle, and ceramic bearings

The Race mode, exclusive to CX R motors, delivers instant support with zero delay and features Extended Boost for technical uphill sections. A highly responsive pedaling sensor tracks input 1,000 times per second, drastically improving responsiveness and stability.

The CX R is a top-tier choice for ambitious riders demanding extreme power and precise control.

New Riding Mode: eMTB+ for Everyone

Alongside the performance upgrade, Bosch introduces a new eMTB+ mode, available for both CX and CX R:

  • Bridges the gap between the standard eMTB mode (focused on range) and Race mode (maximum output)

  • Uses Dynamic Control to adaptively modulate support up to 400% of rider input

  • Blends sensitive handling with powerful drive

  • Extended Boost functions as responsively as in Race mode (though Race remains exclusive to CX R)

This mode is perfect for riders seeking a mix of power and precise control in challenging terrain.
