It is important to feel comfortable to enjoy every ride to the maximum. The right choice of cycling shoes and saddle is, therefore, essential in this respect. The contact points that connect you to the bike significantly influence how you feel and control the bike. The Italian manufacturer fi'zi:k is undoubtedly among the top in the world of cycling shoes and saddles. In the following article, we'll take a look at its collection of road treads.

For maximum pedalling efficiency, the treadmill must fit perfectly. It doesn't twist at the heel when you pedal, and you feel comfortable in it. A common selection mistake is that cyclists buy unnecessarily larger treads. A road cycling tread has a hard sole that doesn't bend. Thus, compared to regular walking shoes, there is no need for extra space in the cycling treads. They should be just right.

Fi'zi:k also offers selected models in wide versions, i.e. with extended foot space. So there really is something for everyone.

Outsole stiffness index

Always consider your type of cyclist when selecting bike shoes. This means whether you are more of a hobbyist or on the more performance side of the spectrum. Why? Each shoe has its own sole stiffness index, and in general, the higher the number, the stiffer and harder the shoe.

When it comes to stiffness index, you can't compare across brands. The stiffness index of fi'zi:k shoes is different from other brands. For fi'zi:k, the stiffness index is marked 1-10, where 1 is the softest and 10 is the stiffest racing shoe.

Shoes with a lower stiffness index are suitable for beginner cyclists or those who want a more cushioned shoe that conforms more to the shape of the foot due to the lower stiffness. However, this comes at the cost of lower shoe performance. More experienced cyclists who want the maximum possible power transfer to the pedal will appreciate a stiffer shoe, even at the cost of a less supple shoe. Shoes with a higher stiffness index also tend to be a bit narrower.

However, it cannot generally be said that the stiffer the shoe, the less comfortable it is. The stiffest shoes are also usually the most expensive. They, therefore, have the most advanced workmanship and technology and are generally the most sophisticated in terms of their ergonomics. It just takes longer for the feet to get used to them.
